Egg Freezing

Preserve your fertility and protect your future options with clarity, control, and confidence.

Egg freezing is a safe and effective way to preserve your fertility, whether you’re focused on your career, haven’t found the right partner, or are facing medical treatments that could affect your reproductive health. By freezing your eggs now, you give yourself more flexibility and control over your family-building timeline.

At our Queens fertility center, we use advanced techniques to retrieve and freeze your eggs at their optimal quality. These eggs can later be thawed, fertilized, and transferred when you’re ready to try for pregnancy whether that’s months or years from now.

Egg freezing is ideal for women in their 20s to early 30s who want to maximize future fertility, but it’s also a smart option for those in their late 30s, LGBTQ+ individuals planning for biological parenthood later on, or cancer patients undergoing treatment. Whatever your reason, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

How It Works: Step-by-Step

1. Initial Consultation & Testing. You’ll meet with a fertility specialist to discuss your goals and review your health history. We’ll run key hormone tests (like AMH) and perform an ultrasound to check your ovarian reserve and determine the best approach.

2. Ovarian Stimulation. You’ll take injectable fertility medications for 8–12 days to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. During this time, you’ll visit the clinic for short monitoring appointments to track progress via bloodwork and ultrasounds.

3. Egg Retrieval Procedure. Once your follicles are ready, we schedule your egg retrieval—a 20-minute outpatient procedure performed under light sedation. Eggs are collected using ultrasound guidance and a thin needle.

4. Cryopreservation (Freezing). After retrieval, your mature eggs are carefully frozen using a rapid-freezing technique called vitrification, which protects the eggs and preserves their quality.

5. Long-Term Storage & Future Use. Your frozen eggs are stored securely until you’re ready to use them. When the time comes, they can be thawed, fertilized with sperm (IVF), and transferred into your uterus or a surrogate’s.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best age to freeze my eggs?

The ideal time to freeze eggs is in your late 20s to early 30s, when egg quality and quantity are highest. However, women in their mid-to-late 30s can still benefit from egg freezing, especially with a personalized evaluation of ovarian reserve.

Frozen eggs can remain safely stored for 10 years or more without a decrease in quality. There’s no set expiration date, and many successful pregnancies have come from eggs frozen for several years.

Most patients report only mild discomfort, similar to bloating or PMS symptoms. The egg retrieval procedure is done under light sedation, so you won’t feel pain during the procedure itself.

It depends on your age and fertility goals. Generally, freezing 10–20 mature eggs provides a good chance of future pregnancy. Your doctor will guide you based on your hormone levels and ultrasound results.

Coverage varies. Some insurance plans and employers now offer fertility preservation benefits, especially for medical reasons like cancer treatment. Our team can help you check your benefits and explore financing options if needed.
